The Peer Mentoring Program(PMP) Kick-off and Training Session was held on Aug 24, 2024 with a huge success, bringing peer mentors together to share insights and foster collaboration in a positive and engaging atmosphere!

The training kicked off with a warm welcome from Professor Allen Huang (Associate Dean – UG Programs). Prof. Huang emphasized the roles and responsibilities of a reliable peer mentor. Peer mentors were also introduced to the program objectives, highlighting how peer mentors could make a positive impact to freshmen's transition to university life under a comprehensive advising structure along with Academic Affairs & Advising Counselor (AAAC), UG Faculty Mentor (UGFA) and Faculty Mentor (FM).

The training session also included the latest academic information, summary of school activities, and useful resources for peer mentors to refer to in helping mentees transition to HKUST.

The highlight of the training were the various fun and exciting team-building activities taken place on-site at the Trio Beach Training Center of the Scout Association of Hong Kong!! Peer Mentors divided into groups and actively participated in different ice-breaking games and team-building activities which were designed to equip mentors with effective communication skills and creative ideas to welcome their mentees in the upcoming School Welcome & Orientation Day with Freshmen.

Overall, the Peer Mentoring Program is off to a fantastic start and stay tuned for more upcoming PMP activities and events!!
