The training session started with welcoming remarks from Professor Allen Huang (Associate Dean – UG Programs). Professor Huang talked about program's objectives and offered valuable insights on the roles and responsibilities of a competent peer mentor. The training session also included the latest academic information, summary of school activities, and useful resources for peer mentors to refer to in helping mentees transition to HKUST. A creative and well-organized Peer Mentoring Guide template, designed by our dedicated Peer Mentoring Committee, was introduced for mentors’ use to prepare for their experience sharing with mentees.
The climax of the training were the various fun and exciting team-building activities!! Peer Mentors divided in groups and actively participated in different ice-breaking games and team-building activities which were designed to equip mentors with effective communication skills and creative ideas to welcome their mentees on the upcoming Peer Mentoring Day with Freshmen.
Overall, the Peer Mentoring Program is off to a fantastic start, stay tuned for more upcoming PMP activities and events!
