SBM Peer Mentoring Day Welcomes Over 900 Freshmen to a Vibrant Start of University Life

The School of Business and Management (SBM) successfully hosted its Peer Mentoring Day on August 24, 2026, bringing together more than 150 Peer Mentors and over 900 freshmen for a day filled with connection, engagement, and community building. The event marked an important milestone in helping new students transition into university life while fostering a strong sense of belonging within the SBM community.

The event provided freshmen with their first opportunity to meet their assigned Peer Mentors and fellow group members. During a one-hour mingling session, students participated in a variety of ice-breaking and interactive activities designed to encourage conversation, strengthen group bonds, and create a welcoming atmosphere. Through these interactions, freshmen gained valuable insights into university life  as well as the essential academic information while building friendships with their peers and mentors.

Following the group session, participants gathered at the Tsang Shiu Tim Art Hall for refreshments and networking. The relaxed setting allowed freshmen to connect not only with members of their own mentoring groups but also with students from other groups, fostering a broader sense of community within SBM. The lively exchanges and positive energy throughout the venue reflected the excitement of students as they embarked on this new chapter of their academic journey.

A key highlight of the day was the dedication and enthusiasm demonstrated by our Peer Mentors, who played a vital role in creating an inclusive and supportive environment. By sharing their experiences and offering guidance, the mentors helped ease the transition of freshmen into university life and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunities ahead.

The success of Peer Mentoring Day reflects the ongoing commitment of SBM and the Karen Lee Student Mentoring Center to fostering a caring and connected student community. As the new academic year begins, the friendships and mentor-mentee relationships established during the event will serve as a valuable foundation for personal growth, academic success, and an enriching university experience.
