Activities | Public Service Internship Scholarships
The objective of this scholarship is to encourage top business students to consider taking public sector internship to serve the community during the Winter or Summer break and honor those who have achieved outstanding performance in the internship.
Scholarship Information
Eligibility:
- Participants of the ‘Social Enterprise Internship Program’ during the Winter or Summer semester in the current academic year
- Demonstrate good academic performance with a CGA of 2.850 or above; and
- Nominated by employer and should have outstanding performance during the internship period
- Summer semester awardees must be non-final year students
- Awardees are to submit a post-internship reflection report with photos
- HK$10,000 - Applicants who have completed a 4-week internship in the Winter semester
- HK$20,000 - Applicants who have completed a 8-week internship in the Summer semester
Application Period:
- Winter Semester: December of each year
- Summer Semester: July of each year
Application Procedure:
- Applicants should submit the completed application form on or before the deadline and the committee will contact the NGO supervisors for nomination arrangement
Results:
- Winter Semester: Announced in April
- Summer Semester: Announced in October

My internship primarily took place during the summer break, and much of my work involved preparing materials for the upcoming school year and creating marketing content, such as social media posts and reels. Initially, tasks like cleaning up data, unpacking materials, and packing mail seemed simple and perhaps even mundane. However, I soon realized that these activities form the foundation of any organization. Without mastering these basics, nothing can operate smoothly. This experience taught me that no matter how ambitious my goals may be, I must respect and learn these small yet significant tasks.

During my internship, I expected to learn practical skills like data handling and administrative tasks. However, I gained so much more. The NGO, Shih Wing Ching Foundation, taught me the importance of diversity and inclusion. Working alongside employees with disabilities shattered my preconceived notions. I witnessed their outstanding work performance and realized that our biases hinder their job opportunities. I learned to appreciate everyone's strengths, regardless of their background or abilities.
Overall, I am grateful for this internship experience and the lessons it taught me. I have developed a caring and respectful attitude towards others, which will shape my future behavior. I am also thankful for the incredible supervisor and friend I met during this unforgettable journey.

Undertaking an internship at Hong Kong Blind Union, I am grateful to be part of the many who work towards the betterment of the visually impaired in Hong Kong. It has been an eye-opening journey in which I have gained a deeper understanding in the running of a social enterprise.
