Activities | Public Service Internship Scholarships
The objective of this scholarship is to encourage top business students to consider taking public sector internship to serve the community during the Winter or Summer break and honor those who have achieved outstanding performance in the internship.
Scholarship Information
Eligibility:
- Participants of the ‘Social Enterprise Internship Program’ during the Winter or Summer semester in the current academic year
- Demonstrate good academic performance with a CGA of 2.850 or above; and
- Nominated by employer and should have outstanding performance during the internship period
- Summer semester awardees must be non-final year students
- HK$10,000 - Applicants who have completed a 4-week internship in the Winter semester
- HK$20,000 - Applicants who have completed a 8-week internship in the Summer semester
Application Period:
- Winter Semester: December of each year
- Summer Semester: July of each year
Application Procedure:
- Applicants should submit the completed application form on or before the deadline and the committee will contact the NGO supervisors for nomination arrangement
Results:
- Winter Semester: Announced in April
- Summer Semester: Announced in October

During my internship, I expected to learn practical skills like data handling and administrative tasks. However, I gained so much more. The NGO, Shih Wing Ching Foundation, taught me the importance of diversity and inclusion. Working alongside employees with disabilities shattered my preconceived notions. I witnessed their outstanding work performance and realized that our biases hinder their job opportunities. I learned to appreciate everyone's strengths, regardless of their background or abilities.
Overall, I am grateful for this internship experience and the lessons it taught me. I have developed a caring and respectful attitude towards others, which will shape my future behavior. I am also thankful for the incredible supervisor and friend I met during this unforgettable journey.

Undertaking an internship at Hong Kong Blind Union, I am grateful to be part of the many who work towards the betterment of the visually impaired in Hong Kong. My internship experience at Junior Achievement Hong Kong (JAHK) has been both rewarding and fruitful. I was able to work with members of the JAHK team on various youth-serving programs and assist youth in exploring their interests and opportunities in the business field. During the internship, I took a deep dive into the program planning processes and learned a lot from the working experiences of JAHK colleagues. The SBMT2200 Social Enterprise Internship Program was a rewarding experience for me to gain exposure to the world of social enterprises. Having been able to organize large-scale events working with various business partners, I have gained a better understanding of social enterprises. Throughout the entire journey, I have acquired soft skills for the workplace, including how to handle crises promptly and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, but most importantly, it has broadened my horizons.
